Interview with Scott Worsfold, playing Dame Ttott

1) How old were you when you first appeared on stage, and what show was it?

I was 6 and I played a squirrel in a school production of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Not the part I went for, just for the record!

2) What’s your most favourite character you have ever played?

Ginge, Too much Too young.

3) What was the last film you went to see at the cinema?

I honestly can’t remember. How bad is that?

4) If someone could play you in a film of your life – who would you like it to be?

I would like to say Bradd Pitt – others would probably say Paul McKenna.

5) What was the last gift you gave someone?

Some sweets for my children, I brought back from a recent trip to France.

6) Do you believe dreams can come true?

Yes. As Walt Disney said himself “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them”.

7) What’s your guilty pleasure when it comes to music? Go on, we won’t tell too many people…

ELO. Imagination and Earth, Wind and Fire. (I had an older brother with a louder stereo) ooooh and of course Baby shark!

8) Bake off or Love Island?

Love Island (I am more ashamed of saying that, than saying I like Baby shark by the way).

9) Favourite quote?

“Never regret anything that once made you smile.”

10) Best thing about Christmas?

Being a daddy of two children, I have to say watching them enjoy all the magic. I want to say wearing a dress in a pantomime – but I will say, watching my children enjoy the magic of Christmas. Oh, and a lovely tree lit up!

11) If you were a biscuit, which one would you be and why?

A Garibaldi (I think you probably know why!).

12) What was the first piece of theatre you remember seeing, and where was it?

One of my earliest memories of going to see a professional show, was actually quite surreal looking back on it now. Pantomime in Birmingham starring Les Dawson. Tickets were arranged through an old-time musical society I was involved with, the president of which was Ruth Madoc. As she was good friends with Les Dawson, a trip backstage to meet him was included. I have to say, to this day, one of my most favourite legends I have ever met. Best dame in the business, and someone I have modelled my dame on since.

13) What was your first thought when you woke up this morning?

Where is that alarm coming from?

14) Last music gig you went to?

ELO (and off again to see them next month. I told you I was a fan).

15) Food Heaven?

Cheese.

16) Food Hell?

Any shell fish! Seriously, anything that takes longer to take out of its shell than it does to eat it, is a waste of time and energy, and don’t get me started on Jellied eels!

17) What is the longest period of time that you have ever gone without sleep and why?

I would say that would be about 40 odd hours. I was doing some work in Tanzania for a filming project, and let’s just say the place I was staying in wasn’t the nicest or safest. You just didn’t want to sleep!

18) What has been your most embarrassing moment on stage?

Too many on stage to mention, but one of my best was while I was presenting on live on GEMS TV. It can actually still be seen on YouTube. (Scott Worsfold pink snake shopping tv blooper). That’s the beauty of when things go wrong on stage, it can’t be replayed time and time again like TV. Thank goodness!

19) Favourite word?

Blancmange.

20) What one thing are you most afraid of?

I will be honest, I am not good with heights. I actually got stuck halfway up a hill once. I sat there for nearly 2 hours, while 6-year olds, walked past me….and asked me if I was ok? #lowpoint
